Cashmere Quality

We use 100% organic, cruelty-free cashmere from the free roaming goats of Mongolia.

Cashmere goats grow this soft and warm undercoat during the hard winter climate of Mongolia. However, as spring comes and weather becomes warm, it is natural that the goat sheds this warm undercoat in preparation for the summer.

Cashmere goats only produce around 113g of cashmere fibre each annually. It takes around two goats every year to produce enough fibre to make a single jumper. Clothes made from cashmere are up to eight times warmer than sheep’s wool and are extremely soft to touch.

Mongolian cashmere is known to be the best cashmere in the world - it is softest, has thinnest fiber, which makes the lightest and warmest cashmere. Unlike many other cashmere brands, we only use cashmere from Mongolia.

Yes, absolutely. Cashmere shearing is a traditional process in Mongolia that the herders perform each spring. This is completely cruelty free - in fact it is helping the animals take off its winter coat during the warmer months. Mongolian herders never prematurely shear when it's still cold, as we love our animals and have strong attachment to our livestock.

Many cashmere brands source their raw material from Mongolia, but export it to countries such as China for manufacturing because of inexpensive labor.

Cashmera Mongolia is proud to say we only exclusively work with Mongolian factories. Factories here have safe working environment, and the workers get paid fair living wage in accordance with the Mongolian Labor Law.

Cashmera Care

Quality cashmere sweater can be worn a lifetime if it is properly cared for. That's why it is important to learn how to care for your cashmera knitwears.

We recommend that you hand wash your cashmere clothes in lukewarm water. You can use specialty cashmere shampoo such as the one we sent you, or baby shampoo. It is also best for the longevity that you don't wash them too often.

You can also get them professionally cleaned at your local dry cleaners.

It is completely normal for cashmere and wool products to pill. The pills form due to rubbing or abrasion during normal wear and use.

In order to remove the pills, use the cashmere comb that we sent you and gently rub it on the surface of the knitwear.

You can also invest in an electric lint remover such as this one to easily remove the pilling.

Please don't put your cashmere in the dryer, but rather lay them flat on a hard surface to dry. You can lay them flat on newspaper or dry towel and shape them to their original shape.

It is safe to iron your cashmere on low heat without applying much pressure.

We recommend that you fold and store your cashmere products in sealable bags to prevent them from getting eaten by moths.

Try not to hang them as they will lose their shape.

You can put a cedar ball in the bag for extra safety.
